Girls Friendly Society (GFS)

At St. Stephen Episcopal Church, the GFS as a philanthropic society empowers girls and women encouraging them to develop their full potential through  programs that provide training, confidence building and other educational opportunities.


GFS and the SSEC Strategic Plan


Goal 1: TO INCREASE ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP BY 20% ANNUALLY
Activities:

  1. Hire a permanent teacher to teach the girls regularly, 50. 00 Monthly
  2. To categorize the girls in three groups based on age range (7-11), (12-17) and (18-25).
  3. Purchase more working materials.

Goal 2: TO RECRUIT 200 NEW MEMBERS BY 2018
Activities:

  1. Institute Career Day Program to include parishioners and community members in a Sunday service- funds will be raised as well.
  2. Clean up campaigns at parishioners’ homes
  3. Community outreach between 10th to 12th Streets at least two times a year. 

Goal 3: DOUBLE FINANCIAL INTAKE IN ONE YEAR AND SUBSEQUENTLY INCREASE AT LEAST BY 25%
Activities:

  1. Effect sponsors’ contribution of LD$1,000.00 annually
  2. Sale of cookie and soft drinks on every Sunday plus others
  3. Produce and sell greeting cards (Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving etc.)
  4. Institute Career Day Program to include parishioners and community members in a Sunday service- funds will be raised as well
  5. Clean up campaign at parishioners’ homes Indicator

Goal 4: TO EXPAND AND INCREASE THE SCOPE OF EVANGELISM
Activities:

  1. Organize different dramas depicting different situations (ills) in church and society at large
  2. Organize sets of uniforms for the GFS for use at different occasions.
